Aesthetic Dental Transformations in Phoenix

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Aesthetic Dental Transformations in Phoenix Many Phoenix professionals, students and retirees are enjoying the lasting benefits of aesthetic dentistry. A beautiful smile not only looks great, it makes you feel great! When you first look in the mirror in the morning while brushing those gleaming babies, you remember; oh yeah, I fixed my teeth and they look fantastic!

When you smile at old friends or make new ones, you are happy to show off your new movie-star grin. When you are in a professional setting speaking with colleagues or clients, you feel poised and super confident.

We have talked about different cosmetic and restorative dental procedures available in previous blog articles, but let’s review the most common.

Veneers are glass-like, wafer-thin covers that adhere to teeth. Porcelain veneers are strong and have the translucency of natural teeth. They correct chips, stains and misaligned teeth that do not require orthodontia. There are several companies that fabricate veneers. One of the most well-known brand names is Lumineers.

Crowns correct more extensive tooth problems. They are used in a variety of situations such as the final restoration following a root canal or to restore teeth damaged by decay, injury or periodontal disease.

Dental implants are one of the best fixes for a missing tooth. They are becoming a popular and effective alternative to bridges and partial dentures in Phoenix and Queen Creek, especially among middle-aged professionals and people in the public eye.

Bridges are another strong, natural looking replacement for one or more missing teeth. They have been used with success for many years.

Professional tooth whitening in your dentist’s office is the least invasive and quickest way to brighten your smile several shades. One of the most popular systems is called Zoom!.

If you are interested in any of these safe and effective procedures, schedule a consultation at Harris Dental today. Even if you are still a bit hesitant, remember: discussing your options with a cosmetic dentist does not require a commitment of any kind. It is merely a relaxed way to get the most reliable information.

Harris Dental on Jaw Bone Deterioration

Monday, May 18th, 2009

Phoenix Jaw Bone Deterioration To remain dense, your jaw bone requires the continual stimulation and pressure of chewing, biting and talking. Each of your teeth has a root structure attached to the surrounding bone material. As each tooth absorbs the forces of everyday mouth function, it stimulates the bone to which the root is attached.

When a tooth is extracted, the jaw bone that previously surrounded the root structure begins to recede. Though tooth extraction is often the only possible treatment for our Phoenix and Queens Creek patients with tooth damage beyond repair, every effort should be made to preserve the root structure.

Fortunately, tooth implants provide a new root which keeps the surrounding bone healthy and strong. A dental implant consists of a titanium post which is placed in the jaw bone. It replaces the original root and eventually integrates into the surrounding bone. After the implant has been placed and the surrounding bone has healed and meshed with the implant, a post is inserted into the implant. The new artificial tooth, or crown, is then attached to the post. Implant restoration is a safe and effective treatment for tooth loss.

Phoenix Dental Implants

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

When our patients ask us about tooth restoration, we usually tell them about the important developments in  dental implants.

Tooth replacement has been a highly requested procedure at our Phoenix dental practice. Patients from the greater Phoenix area including Glendale, Tempe and Mesa have expressed concern about tooth replacement for many years. Most of the questions have to do with the strength of the tooth replacement, and durability.

Dental implants have become a popular choice for many of our Phoenix tooth replacement patients, even above dental bridges.  A dental implant consists of a titanium post surgically inserted into the jaw bone to replace the root of the missing tooth. The post integrates with the bone to provide a stable foundation for the replacement tooth.

After it has bonded with the bone (it usually takes three to six months), a smaller post is attached. This post extends above the gum line. The artificial tooth (dental crown) is then attached. The entire process takes several months, but consistently yields terrific results for Phoenix dental implants patients. Our Arizona cosmetic dentistry patients appreciate the fact that we stay up to date on the latest advancements in tooth replacement procedures.

This smile restoration option preserves or restores facial contour and allows you to talk and eat normally. Tooth replacements prevent adjoining teeth from gradually shifting and can help correct bite problems, too. Tooth implants can replace one or more missing teeth. Many Phoenix area dental patients have been treated successfully with this tooth restoration procedure.

Call Harris Dental and ask to schedule an evaluation for Phoenix dental implants. You can schedule your dental implant consultation by calling us at 602-955-8600.
