Do You Brush Your Tongue?

brush-your-tongueIt is by far common knowledge that one needs to brush and floss regularly to be in the pink of oral health. It helps to keep your teeth sparkly white and removes the possibilities of germs. But, how important is it to be brushing your tongue?

Is it a must to brush your tongue regularly?

There is no debate to the fact that it is very important to brush your tongue every day, and without fail. Equally important as it is to brush and floss. Your tongue and the zone below the tongue is a hotbed for infections. Your tongue is in constant contact with the food you eat as well as the air outside when you speak. It is therefore susceptible to any infections or germs that may be around and is also mostly the first point of contact. At the same time due to the saliva in the mouth, the tongue is moist most of the time so making it equally difficult for any infections to die out.

What can happen if you don’t brush your tongue?

Over a period of time infections can start growing on the tongue or the area below it. The germs gets nurtured and encouraged to grow due to the fact that you do not make an effort to clean them. The rest of your oral zone, like the teeth and gums remain clean, as against the tongue. The bacteria that grow on the tongue can be the cause of other health issues as well. Sooner than you know your mouth starts stinking and is the cause of bad breath, resulting in other oral problems.

It is easy to brush your tongue rather than endure these problems. All you need to do is to pick up a tongue brush, scrapers and cleaners and start cleaning your tongue at least once in a day for a complete and overall well-being.
